What We Wore: October Weather Along Route 66
Storms in Las Vegas, sunshine in Albuquerque and torrential rain in Texas: how we dressed for October on the road.

🌦️ Las Vegas: Not What We Expected
We arrived in a storm, and for the first few days it was windy and far cooler than usual, only just reaching 20 degrees, with spots of rain. Jeans, T-shirts, a light jacket and trainers. By midweek it was shorts and vest tops in the mid-twenties.
🌲 Arizona and New Mexico
Through Albuquerque and Santa Fe it was mostly jeans and T-shirts with a hoodie or light jacket. We even relaxed on sun loungers for a couple of hours, still in jeans! Apart from one heavy shower driving back from Santa Fe, we dodged the rain until an evening thunderstorm.

⛈️ Into Texas
The drive to Amarillo started warm and sunny, then turned into extremely heavy rain with thunder and lightning. Amarillo itself was a mixed bag: a very dark wet day, then a chilly, really windy morning that became bright sunshine in the low to mid twenties.
One thing to note: it's always chilly indoors in the United States, so a cardigan or jumper lives in my bag whatever the weather.
