Route 66
Route 66, the Mother Road, from the Arizona desert through New Mexico to the Texas Panhandle: neon, diners, trading posts and quirky roadside stops.
🛣️ Welcome to Route 66
Route 66 once ran from Chicago to Los Angeles. Large stretches survive alongside the interstate, and towns along the way still celebrate the road with neon, murals and vintage motels.
🏜️ Arizona to Texas
Our stretch ran from Kingman through Seligman, Flagstaff, Winslow and Holbrook in Arizona, then Gallup, Albuquerque, Santa Rosa and Tucumcari in New Mexico, and on to Amarillo in Texas.
One thing to note: if you want to drive as much of the old road as possible, plan your exits carefully, as it is easy to skip sections on the interstate.
📋 Quick Tips
- 📸 Stop for the roadside giants and painted road shields.
- ☕ Independent cafés beat the chains every time.
- 🗺️ Download offline maps, as signal can be patchy.
