Las Vegas Beyond the Casinos: Five Days of Shows, Sphere and the Titanic
We barely touched a slot machine. Instead, five days in Las Vegas meant the Wizard of Oz at Sphere, Donny Osmond, the Rat Pack, the Titanic and Red Rock Canyon.

π The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
Our first big night out was The Wizard of Oz at Sphere. We arrived early to look around the lobby, which is a show in itself, and then sat back for 75 minutes without an interval. The scale of the screen is hard to describe. You really do feel swept up in the tornado.
π€ Donny Osmond at Harrah's
The same evening we went to see Donny Osmond at Harrah's showroom. We had a booth, which felt very Vegas. It was a proper feel-good night of hits and stories.
π© The Rat Pack Is Back
Two nights later we sat in the VIP rows for The Rat Pack Is Back at the Tuscany. It's a lovely old-school showroom away from the Strip crowds, and the swing classics had the whole room singing along.
π’ Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition
At the Luxor we spent the morning at the Titanic exhibition. You're handed a boarding pass with a real passenger's name and find out at the end whether they survived. It was quietly moving, and I couldn't resist a tea towel from the gift shop.

ποΈ Red Rock Canyon
To finish, we took the scenic drive at Red Rock Canyon, just 30 minutes from the Strip but a world away.
One thing to note: the Strip is much bigger than it looks. Valet or rideshare saves your feet between resorts.
π Tips for Las Vegas Shows
- ποΈ Book Sphere and popular residencies weeks in advance.
- β° Sphere has no late entry, so arrive early.
- π§₯ Showrooms are cold, so bring a cardigan.
- π Red Rock's scenic drive needs a timed entry, so book online.
